What Equine Sports Therapy can do for you and your horse
Does your horse seem stiff or have difficulty initiating and maintaining its leads? Does it resist your training demands or have problems maintaining collection; or is it "not quite sound". If any of this strikes a familiar bell for you then Equine Sports Therapy is a treatment you should consider.
Equine Sports Therapy incorporates many different aspects. These include remedial massage therapy, structural assessment and balancing, nutrition, saddle and tack fitting, dental assessment, acupressure and applied kinesiology.
Not all horses are created equal. Some types of conformation are structurally better suited to perform in certain sports or disciplines than others. Each discipline or sport requires the horse to perform at the best of it's abilities.
To be competitive a horse must always be using it's entire body at once. Stress points can develop at any time and anywhere in the body especially when the horse's conformation is not ideal for the work being done.
All horses have a potential for muscle soreness. This is especially true for horses in heavy training or competition.
Often a single treatment will be all that it takes to free up muscles that are in spasm and return the horse to its' full working capabilities. Many horses, however, benefit from regular 'tune-ups' when they are preparing for and performing in demanding sports or living with chronic orthopedic problems.
